Stuart Fails to Save the Universe was created by Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn, who also serve as writers and executive producers. Kyle Newacheck serves as an executive producer and directs multiple episodes.

Chuck Lorre

Chuck Lorre is an American writer and producer best known for creating sitcoms including Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon.

After working as a writer on Roseanne, Lorre created a number of sitcoms in the 1990s, including Grace Under Fire, Cybill and Dharma & Greg.

After co-creating Two and a Half Men with Lee Aronsohn in 2003, which soon became television’s most-watched sitcom, Lorre and Bill Prady created The Big Bang Theory in 2007. The show ran for twelve seasons, overtaking Men as television’s top-rated sitcom, and spawning the spin-off Young Sheldon.

Lorre’s more recent works include Disjointed and Leanne for Netflix, and B Positive and United States of Al for CBS. He also co-created Young Sheldon’s own spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Lorre co-created, wrote and executive produces Stuart Fails to Save the Universe with Bill Prady and screenwriter Zak Penn. His memoir, Sitcom, is set to be published in October 2026.

Bill Prady

Bill Prady is an American television writer and producer best known as the co-creator and executive producer of The Big Bang Theory.

Before turning to television, Prady worked as a computer programmer and at RadioShack. He began his writing career at The Jim Henson Company, contributing to projects including Fraggle Rock: The Animated Series, The Jim Henson Hour and Muppet*Vision 3D.

Prady’s later credits included Caroline in the City, where he served as a writer and producer, and Dharma & Greg, the ABC sitcom co-created by Chuck Lorre. He worked on all five seasons of Dharma & Greg, eventually becoming showrunner and executive producer. He later wrote and served as co-executive producer on the fifth season of Gilmore Girls.

In 2006, Prady and Lorre first developed The Big Bang Theory for CBS. Although the network passed on that version, it asked them to retool the show for the 2007/08 season. After premiering in 2007, the series ran for twelve seasons and became the top-rated comedy on television. Prady served as showrunner for the first five seasons and remained an executive producer throughout the show’s run.

In 2015, Prady and Bob Kushell developed The Muppets as a television series for ABC. Prady served as an executive producer and writer on the show, which came from his production company, Bill Prady Productions.

Zak Penn

Zak Penn is an American screenwriter, producer and director best known for his work on science fiction, superhero and action films.

His early film credits include story work on Last Action Hero, co-writing the 1994 comedy PCU, and writing the 1999 family comedy Inspector Gadget. In the 2000s, Penn became known for story or screenplay work on superhero franchise films including X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers.

Outside the superhero genre, Penn co-wrote the films Ready Player One and Free Guy.

In 2011, Penn co-created the Syfy superhero drama Alphas, which was later mentioned on The Big Bang Theory as one of Sheldon’s favorite shows. He also directed the documentary Atari: Game Over.

Kyle Newacheck

Kyle Newacheck is an American writer, producer, director and actor best known for the Comedy Central series Workaholics.

In 2011, Newacheck co-created Workaholics with Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine and Anders Holm, who all starred in the show. Newacheck co-starred as Karl Hevacheck and directed many episodes of the series.

He has also directed episodes of Community, Parks and Recreation and Happy Endings. He was a producer and director on the FX comedy horror series What We Do in the Shadows.

His film credits include directing Game Over, Man!, Murder Mystery and Happy Gilmore 2.

Newacheck serves as an executive producer on Stuart Fails to Save the Universe and directs multiple episodes.
