HBO Max has announced an official companion podcast for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, hosted by Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day.

The Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Official Podcast will release new episodes after each installment of the series, with Day and Wheaton breaking down Stuart's latest attempt to put reality back together. The hosts will discuss the show's biggest moments, Easter eggs, sci-fi references you might have missed, multiverse theories and behind-the-scenes stories from the new Big Bang Theory spin-off.

Wheaton is well known to Big Bang Theory fans for playing a fictionalized version of himself in the original series, and has long-standing sci-fi credentials from his role as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Day created and starred in the web series The Guild, co-founded Geek & Sundry, and is also known for her recurring roles in Supernatural and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Guests lined up for the post-episode discussion include creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn, along with stars Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie. Check out the podcast trailer on YouTube.com.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is heading to San Diego Comic-Con later this month, just in time for its July 23 premiere.

The Max Original series will be featured at the convention with a panel in Hall H, a cast and creators signing session and an off-site fan experience inspired by Stuart's comic book store, the Comic Center of Pasadena.

The series follows Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he accidentally breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, setting off a multiverse catastrophe. Stuart sets out to restore reality with his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn) and the ever-irritating quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie), encountering alternate versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters along the way.

From Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26, HBO Max will host a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe fan experience at Sparks Gallery, 530 Sixth Avenue in San Diego. The off-site activation will recreate the Comic Center of Pasadena, known to fans of The Big Bang Theory, and send fans on a portal-hopping journey through the new show's characters and multiverse. The experience will include interactive moments, photo opportunities with a replica of the machine from the series, exclusive merchandise and a personalized collectible takeaway.

The off-site activation will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 23-25, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 26.

Inside the convention, HBO Max will present a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe panel in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 23. The panel will include an exclusive advance screening of the premiere followed by a discussion with creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn, and stars Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie. Felicia Day will moderate.

Ahead of the panel, the cast and creators will appear for a signing session at the DC booth, #4544, from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

HBO Max has released the official trailer for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the new sci-fi comedy spin-off set in the world of The Big Bang Theory, ahead of its premiere next month.

The single-camera comedy follows Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he accidentally breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, causing a multiverse disaster. To repair reality, Stuart is joined by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn) and quantum physicist and regular pain-in-the-ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Their mission sends them through alternate realities filled with familiar Big Bang Theory characters, though the title makes it clear Stuart's attempt to put things right doesn't always go to plan.

The new trailer opens with Stuart and Bert walking through a marketplace with giant moths flying overhead. Stuart explains that he has been told he is "the chosen one" who can set things right, but wants Bert's advice on whether he should believe the man who told him that. Bert responds, "That guy was you."

From there, the trailer moves quickly through the show's multiverse, including apocalyptic wastelands, militarized worlds, snowy mountains and a reality where Kripke has become the dictator of South Pasadena.

In one scene, a hooded Denise pulls a gun on Stuart before realizing she is threatening her real-universe boyfriend. When he asks what she has been doing, she answers, "Robbing, mostly." Elsewhere, Stuart wakes in a sci-fi pod reminiscent of The Matrix, where his immediate concern is that he is now bald. Later, when Denise asks about his plan, Stuart admits, "I don't really have one. I'm kind of new to the action genre."

The trailer also features a glimpse of several familiar Big Bang Theory faces, including Ramona Nowitzki (Riki Lindhome) and Beverly Hofstadter (Christine Baranski). Penn and Teller appear in a later scene, performing magic tricks in exchange for food. Earlier footage had already shown brief appearances by Wil Wheaton and Joshua Malina, who played President Siebert.

Alongside the trailer, HBO Max released new key art for the series. The poster shows Stuart, Denise, Bert and Kripke standing on a mountain peak against a colorful cosmic backdrop, with the tagline: "Every universe needs a hero. We got Stuart."

New stills from the season were also released, showing Kripke in dictator mode questioning Denise, Stuart holding a weathered ration pack, Stuart and Denise in the comic book store with the machine, and Stuart inside the sci-fi pod. Other images place Kripke, Bert and Denise in a calmer tropical setting, while another shows the four main characters in army fatigues seated in front of the machine. A final still finds Bert, Kripke, Denise and Stuart waiting together at an airport.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is created, written and executive produced by Big Bang Theory co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady along with screenwriter Zak Penn (Ready Player One, Free Guy). Danny Elfman, whose work includes The Simpsons and Beetlejuice, composed the show's original music.

The teaser was unveiled Wednesday during Warner Bros. Discovery's Upfront presentation in New York, where Sussman was joined by co-stars Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie. The streaming service also confirmed that the 10-episode first season will premiere Thursday, July 23 at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes released weekly on Thursdays.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe finds Stuart dealing with the fallout after he accidentally breaks a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, setting off a multiverse catastrophe. From there, the teaser jumps through some of the show's stranger realities, including giant bugs, devastated war zones, a version of South Pasadena ruled by Kripke, and a wormhole. One version of Stuart is seen trying to explain how the "apocalyptic nightmare" can still be avoided.

The teaser also shows Stuart finding a copy of a Stuart Fails to Save the Universe comic book in his own store. One of the comic's panels shows Sheldon, Leonard and Howard with the "Vari-state Quantum Entanglement" device that appears to be at the center of the crisis.

The series is created, written and executive produced by Big Bang Theory co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, along with Zak Penn, whose credits include The Avengers and Ready Player One.

Their journey will bring them into contact with alternate versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters, though the title makes clear that Stuart's rescue mission is unlikely to go smoothly.

The series is a notable departure from the traditional multi-camera sitcom style of The Big Bang Theory, with a single-camera approach, bigger locations and a heavier emphasis on science fiction, fantasy and visual effects.

The first batch of images hints at the scale of the trouble Stuart has unleashed. The stills show the group in the familiar locations of the Comic Center of Pasadena and a Caltech lab, where Stuart is seen with the device, before moving into much stranger territory, including a war-torn setting patrolled by armed soldiers. Another image places Stuart and Denise beside a quiet lake, a brief moment of serenity amid the chaos, while a final shot finds Stuart, Denise, Bert and Kripke looking battle-worn.

It was also announced that Danny Elfman will compose the show's original theme music. Elfman, an Emmy and Grammy winner, is known for film scores including Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns, as well as the theme songs for The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe comes from executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, co-creators of The Big Bang Theory, and screenwriter Zak Penn. The first season will consist of 10 episodes, with the exact July premiere date still to be announced.
