Jon Cryer is an American actor best known for playing Alan Harper on Chuck Lorre’s CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.

Cryer began his career on stage before making his film debut in the 1984 comedy-drama No Small Affair. His breakout role came in 1986 as Duckie in the John Hughes-written teen comedy Pretty in Pink. His later film credits include Hiding Out, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Hot Shots!, Shorts and Big Time Adolescence.

On television, Cryer had starring roles on sitcoms including The Famous Teddy Z, Partners and The Trouble with Normal, each of which lasted one season. That spell ended in 2003, when he was cast as Alan Harper on Two and a Half Men. He appeared in all twelve seasons of the show and won two Primetime Emmy Awards for the role.

After Two and a Half Men, Cryer played Lex Luthor on The CW’s Supergirl and other DC Comics series. He later starred opposite Abigail Spencer and Donald Faison on the NBC sitcom Extended Family.
