Ramona Nowitzki

Ramona Nowitzki is a physicist and former Caltech graduate student who developed an intense admiration for Sheldon Cooper and his work.

After Ramona attended one of Sheldon’s lectures, she began inserting herself into his life. Although Sheldon initially appreciated having someone keep him focused, Ramona soon became overbearing, stopping him from enjoying distractions such as comic books, television and paintball. Ramona was hostile to Sheldon’s friends when she believed they were interfering with his work. She pushed Leonard and the others away and treated Penny as a romantic rival.

Her pressure helped Sheldon make progress on his research, but their arrangement ended when she suggested they share credit on the resulting paper. Years later, Ramona returned to Caltech after working at CERN and started spending time with Sheldon while Amy was away at Princeton. When Sheldon realized Ramona might be romantically interested in him, he left for New Jersey and proposed to Amy.

 Stuart Fails to Save the Universe history

When we meet Ramona in 102 “Spoiler: Zack’s in This One”, she is working at Caltech’s reception desk in a reality where an AI overlord punishes negative emotions using shock implants. Unlike Stuart, Bert and Kripke, who are new to this world, Ramona appears to have mastered the rules of this reality, maintaining a bright, helpful tone while offering no real assistance.

When Bert and Kripke ask to see Sheldon Cooper or Leonard Hofstadter, Ramona cheerfully asks whether they have an appointment, confirming that Sheldon and Leonard work at Caltech in this universe. She tells them they can make one, just not through her, and says they would need to contact Sheldon and Leonard’s personal assistants, whose numbers she cannot provide. Her cheerful delivery keeps her safely within the AI overlord’s emotional boundaries while pushing Kripke closer to frustration.

Kripke struggles to stay calm as Ramona’s polite obstruction continues. When he explains that Sheldon and Leonard built a special device, Ramona recognizes them as the sort of scientists who could have done so, but still offers no real help in getting Bert and Kripke to them. When Kripke tries to explain that the device may have caused the universe to collapse and regrow, Ramona focuses on his pronunciation of “regrow” until he snaps and is shocked again.

After Bert takes charge of the conversation, he tells Ramona he used to work in this building in another universe, in the geology department. She explains that the geology department has been moved elsewhere to make room for the “important sciences”. Her comment finally provokes Bert into raising his voice, causing him to be shocked for the first time. As Bert and Kripke writhe on the floor, Ramona calmly returns to work.
