Trevor

Trevor is a regular at Stuart’s comic book store in various universes, often appearing alongside fellow comic book nerd Kyle. Trevor’s relationship with Kyle depends heavily on the universe they are in.

When we meet Trevor in the post-apocalyptic reality of 101 “Spoiler: Gary Dies”, he is still a regular at Stuart’s store despite the collapse of civilization and the end of new comic book publishing. He starts an argument with Kyle over whether Hawkeye deserves to be an Avenger, questioning why a man with a bow and arrow belongs on the same team as Iron Man and Thor. As Trevor asks, “What sense does that even make?”, Kyle grabs an arrow and stabs him to death, asking, “Does this make sense?”

In this brutal reality, Stuart is less shocked by Trevor’s death than annoyed that he had just mopped the floor. After throwing Kyle out of the store for “strike three”, Stuart and Bert dispose of Trevor’s body by throwing it into a portal to another dimension.

When we meet Trevor in the AI-controlled reality of 102 “Spoiler: Zack’s in This One”, he and Kyle have a friendlier relationship, arriving at the store together. When Trevor says he was going to buy a comic book Kyle has just picked up, Kyle immediately apologizes and hands it over. Trevor accepts the apology, which Kyle appreciates.

The pair try to calm Stuart and Kripke down when they begin arguing over who was responsible for sending them to this distorted reality. After Stuart and Kripke are shocked by their implants for their disagreement, Trevor and Kyle choose to leave the store together.

When Stuart and Denise land in a reality where magic is real, Trevor and Kyle are once again at each other’s throats. After Kyle says he was going to buy the Necronomicon, Trevor mocks him by saying he cannot handle that level of magic and hands him Alchemy for Dummies instead. Insulted, Kyle casts a spell that causes a snake to emerge from Trevor’s mouth and wrap around his body, leaving Trevor shouting for him to make it stop.

After Stuart intervenes and orders Kyle to stop, Trevor calls Kyle an asshole. Kyle replies, “You want an asshole? I’ll show you an asshole,” before casting another spell. Stuart then points out that there is an anus on Trevor’s forehead. When Trevor looks in a mirror, he sees he also has hemorrhoids, much to Kyle’s amusement.

When we meet Trevor in 104 “Spoiler: Stuart Makes a Wallet”, he is once again at the comic book store arguing with Kyle, even in a reality where Stuart does not run the store. The pair are debating whether Thor’s magic obeys the laws of physics and ask Stuart, a stranger to them in this universe, to settle the question. Stuart surprises himself by explaining that Thor and the other inhabitants of Asgard exist outside the paradigm of the physical universe.

When we meet Trevor in 106 “Spoiler: Corn is Delicious&rdquo, he is at the comic book store with Kyle in the reality where humans evolved from cows. Unlike their counterparts in other realities, Trevor and Kyle seem to be on friendly terms in this peaceful society.

After deciding to resume his universe-hopping mission, Stuart tells the two regulars that he and Denise are leaving to prevent the destruction of reality itself. Trevor and Kyle react with little interest, prompting Denise to ask whether they have any questions. Trevor says he has one and asks whether Stuart can lower the price of a water-damaged Batman #608. Stuart refuses and activates the quantum device, causing himself, Denise and the machine to disappear before their eyes. Unfazed by what they have witnessed, Trevor and Kyle immediately return to the comic, with Kyle suggesting that Trevor can simply take it now.

When Stuart and his companions return to the war-torn reality in 108 “Spoiler: We're as Confused as You Are”, they arrive in the comic book store, where Denise notices the bodies of Trevor and Kyle. Stuart remarks, “They died how they lived, reading comics they didn’t pay for.”

After Stuart and his companions escape from the war zone using the newly-obtained quantum device, Trevor and Kyle appear in another version of the comic book store, receiving instructions from the Adversary, a swirling entity of black tendrils with a glowing orange center. It tells them that Stuart and his companions’ progress has been stopped and tasks them with keeping the group there. On a nearby display, a comic book titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Trapped! depicts Stuart and his friends on its cover, now imprisoned inside its pages.

When Kyle asks what they should do if someone wants to buy that comic book, the Adversary tells them not to sell it. Trevor asks what they should say, prompting the entity to spell it out: “You tell them it’s not for sale.” Satisfied, Trevor replies, “Good. That’s good.” Kyle assures the Adversary that they have its back, before Trevor adds, “Or whatever you have.” Kyle settles on “Your circumference.”

109 “Spoiler: We Couldn't Get Green Lantern”

In 109 “Spoiler: We Couldn't Get Green Lantern”, Trevor and Kyle are in the comic book store obeying the Adversary’s orders to keep Stuart and his companions trapped in a comic book, which they’ve been instructed not to sell. They pass the time with their usual comic book arguments. When Kyle insists that Hawkeye is the coolest Avenger, Trevor mocks his choice of a hero “with the same weapon Robin Hood used”. Their debate echoes the argument that ended with Kyle killing Trevor with an arrow in the post-apocalyptic reality.

Kyle grows nervous when he finds Trevor reading Stuart Fails to Save the Universe TRAPPED!. Trevor argues that “it” only told them not to sell the comic, not that they shouldn’t read it. Kyle insists that the Adversary is a “he”, prompting Trevor to challenge his “gender-based assumption”. When Kyle asks, “When has an omnipotent swirling bowl of shit ever been a girl?”, Trevor argues there are plenty of powerful goddesses: Gaia, Hera and “the hot chick in American Gods who sucked guys up into her business”. Kyle rolls his eyes and tells him to put the comic back. “Narc,” Trevor complains.

After Trevor returns to reading the comic, he discovers that Stuart and his companions are no longer on the cover. He urgently calls over Kyle, who is playing with Batman figurines at the counter. After hearing what has happened, Kyle calls Trevor an idiot and asks where the group are. “Don’t panic,” Trevor says before describing the events he’s seen in the latest panels: “They’re flying to Central City. It’s kind of boring. Denise has diarrhea.”

As Kyle panics, Trevor begs him not to tell the Adversary. “I don’t need to tell him,” Kyle replies, pointing out that the Adversary is all-knowing. When the Adversary reappears with a startling whoosh, he menacingly calls, “Oh, Trevor.” Kyle echoes the words in a resigned tone. “In my defense,” Trevor argues, “you said don’t sell it, not don’t read it.” The Adversary cuts his protest short with an energy beam, leaving only the comic and his charred sneakers behind.
