Lauren Lapkus
Lauren Lapkus is an American actress and comedian known for her roles as Susan Fischer on Orange Is the New Black, Denise on The Big Bang Theory, and Jess on Crashing.
Lapkus was born in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She began taking improv classes at the iO Theater during high school and continued performing while studying at DePaul University.
After appearing in commercials and sketches on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lapkus had a supporting role on the NBC sitcom Are You There, Chelsea?, followed by guest roles on Hot in Cleveland and House of Lies.
In 2013, Lapkus began appearing as correctional officer Susan Fischer on Orange Is the New Black. She appeared in thirteen episodes during the show’s first two seasons and returned for an episode in its seventh season. She later had a recurring role on the HBO comedy-drama Crashing, appearing as Jess, Pete’s ex-wife.
During the final two seasons of The Big Bang Theory, Lapkus appeared in eight episodes as Denise, Stuart’s co-worker at the comic book store and later his girlfriend. She reprises the role of Denise in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
In addition to providing the voice of Lotta in Harvey Girls Forever!, her voice credits include Adventure Time, Animals., American Dad! and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Her film credits include Jurassic World, The Unicorn, The Wrong Missy, Happiest Season, The Curse of Bridge Hollow and The Out-Laws. She has also appeared on and hosted several podcasts, including With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus, Threedom, Raised by TV and Newcomers.
Her recent television credits include a recurring role on Good Girls and guest appearances on Night Court, St. Denis Medical and The Morning Show.
